The Regent printed scarf laid flat, a gilded star medallion on a pale blue and cream ground

New In: Four Scarf Prints and What to Wear Each One With

Four new printed scarves are live at Laurel & Stich: The Regent, The Nocturne Hide, The Ecstasy and The Suncrest. Each is a square, silk-feel scarf. Three are Rs. 1,990 and The Regent is Rs. 2,090. If you are looking for new printed scarves in India that give an outfit one clear focal point, here is each print, its colours, what to wear it with, and whether a gold or silver scarf ring suits it.

New printed scarves in India: the four at a glance

  • The Regent, Rs. 2,090: pale blue and cream, with a gilded baroque frame.
  • The Nocturne Hide, Rs. 1,990: a deep red-brown croc texture, edged with a fine gold floral vine.
  • The Ecstasy, Rs. 1,990: gold baroque scrollwork on a soft ivory base.
  • The Suncrest, Rs. 1,990: warm yellow with sage and olive ornament.

All four sit in our New Arrivals collection.

The Regent: pale blue and a gilded frame

The print

The Regent is built around one medallion. An eight-pointed star sits inside a gilded baroque frame, on a mottled ground of pale blue and cream. Gold scrolls fill the corners. The layout is formal: centred, symmetrical, framed.

What to wear it with

The blue is soft, so it works with colours most wardrobes already hold. Try it with a white or pale blue shirt, navy trousers or a camel coat. With denim, fold it into a band and knot it at the neck so the blue picks up the wash. Over an ivory kurta, the gold frame reads as a border.

Gold or silver ring

Gold. The frame is the strongest line in the print, and a gold ring such as The Triarch continues it. Silver works if you only wear silver jewellery; the pale blue is cool enough to take it.

The Nocturne Hide: croc texture for low light

The print

The darkest of the four. A croc-textured surface in deep oxblood and brown fills the square, framed by a thin gold floral vine. It is designed to look rich under low light.

What to wear it with

Wear it where one rich detail is enough. Black, charcoal, chocolate and cream all hold it well. It suits evening dressing: a black dress, a dark blazer, or a cream knit with tailored trousers. Keep other prints away from it. The croc surface is already doing the work.

Gold or silver ring

Gold, to match the border. Silver makes the scarf look cooler and more graphic, which suits an all-black or grey outfit.

The Ecstasy: gold baroque on ivory

The print

The Ecstasy draws on classical baroque design. Gilded scrollwork is arranged in strict symmetry around a central rosette, on a soft ivory base with a fine gold edge.

What to wear it with

Ivory and gold go with more than you might expect. Wear it with black for contrast, or with camel, beige and white for a tonal look. With festive dates coming up, drape it over the shoulders of a plain kurta in ivory, pastel or a deep jewel tone, where the gold picks up any zari or embroidery.

Gold or silver ring

Gold. Silver fights the print. The Triarch, with its sculpted arches, is the natural match.

The Suncrest: warm yellow and sage

The print

The Suncrest has a warm, radiant ground in sunflower yellow. A sage and olive medallion sits at the centre, with matching ornament in each corner and a striped green border. It is the brightest of the new prints.

What to wear it with

Yellow looks strongest against neutrals. Pair it with white, navy, denim or olive. The green in the print means it sits comfortably with sage and khaki. The sage Westbury Polo from our Laurel Women line is one example. For daytime, knot it loosely at the neck over a white shirt. Reach for it when an outfit needs warmth rather than weight.

Gold or silver ring

Gold. It warms the yellow further. Silver sits cold against it, so keep silver for the blue and dark prints.

How to choose between the four

If your wardrobe is mostly black and grey, look at The Nocturne Hide or The Ecstasy. If it runs to blue, white and denim, choose The Regent. If you wear warm neutrals, olive or khaki, choose The Suncrest.

The Triarch is gold and The Duke Dome is silver, both at Rs. 890. Our complete guide to scarf rings explains what they are and how they work.
